KOHL’S DESIGN IT! LAB
@ DISCOVERY WORLD AT PIER WISCONSIN
Discovery World is a 120,000-square foot facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that includes interactive science, technology and freshwater exhibits, learning labs, theaters, television and audio studios, and fresh and saltwater aquariums.
In the Kohl’s Design It! Lab, patrons are encouraged to learn and engage with prototyping equipment and teaching resources to bring their ideas into reality. Design Fugitives was asked to analyze existing classrooms and propose a new, integrated floor plan that could limit public access- when needed- without cutting off visual connection to the prototyping machines. As this new lab would occupy a fairly inconspicuous, inopportune zone within the building, DF also proposed a grander entrance to welcome and guide lab users.
