URBAN AQUACULTURE CENTER: website
The Urban Aquaculture Center is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and promotes, teaches and cultivates urban food growth, water cultivation and fish information. The UAC wanted a website that was user friendly, easily update-able by members themselves and graphically memorable. These requirements, specifically the ease of user-based content management, led us to use WordPress’s strong web system as our back-end coding. This gave members easy to use updating interfaces and blogging interfaces which allows for their network of students and do-it-yourself gardeners to stay update to date quickly. From the Design Fugitives perspective, we directed our attention toward creating a website that had a clear organization, clearly defined buttons, and worked with UAC to come up with a color scheme and background image. WordPress’s simple interface also allowed for future expandability and plug-ins which open up the connections between the website to other sites (like Picasso and Flickr) and the website to mobile devices.
