DF has built and operates a large-format CNC router machine. A CNC (computer numerical control) router cuts materials according to instructions from a computer, usually from a CAD drawing. CNC-cut materials exhibit an extraordinarily high degree of accuracy. This process also can afford the designer a greater degree of control over the fabrication process, as well as the potential for decreasing labor costs. Typical materials cut using a CNC machine include acrylic, ash, chipboard, museum board, mylar, plexiglass, plywood, and veneers.
DF provides competitive cutting services to designers, architects, craftsmen, students, and makers of all sorts. Prototypes, models, furniture pieces… any job that needs precision and the extra care only fellow designers can offer.
